Please help make schools safer for all students like Constance by urging your Representative to support the Student Non-Discrimination Act (HR 4530). This important legislation would be the first comprehensive federal prohibition against discrimination in public schools based on a student’s actual or perceived sexual orientation or gender identity. The legislation builds on existing protections for students based on their race, color, sex, religion, disability or national origin, and will provide LGBT students and their families with legal recourse against discriminatory treatment. 

The bi-partisan SNDA was introduced by Congressman Jared Polis (D-CO) and has 60 co-sponsors.

“Hatred has no place in the classroom,” said Congressman Polis.  “Every student has the right to an education free from harassment and violence.  This bill will protect the individual freedoms of our students and enshrine the values of equality and opportunity in our classrooms.”
