I have always had a special place in my heart for animals, especially cats. They are more than just pets; they are family. However, it breaks my heart to see countless animals roaming the streets without food, shelter or a loving family to care for them.

It is estimated that there are about 70 million stray animals living in the U.S alone (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). These animals suffer from hunger, harsh weather conditions and often fall prey to accidents or abuse.

We must take action now. We need our local government bodies and animal welfare organizations to implement comprehensive programs that provide food and shelter for these stray animals. We also need initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership and spaying/neutering programs to control the population of strays.
