The Issue
The G-word is a racial slur that has been used to enslave, persecute and slaughter Romani people for centuries— the direct translation of the word is “slave” and “untouchable”. The word was tattooed onto our skin during the Holocaust where 80% of Romani people were murdered.
Today, Romani people are victims of forced deportation, hate crimes, police brutality, legal job and housing discrimination, cultural appropriation, and more.
The G- word perpetuates harmful stereotypes and a painful history to Romani people, those who are uneducated about Romani people ( due to cultural genocide and history erasure) believe the word means “free-spirited”, this is completely false,
when you name you business after the word “g*psy” it is equivalent to naming it after the N-word. It is a racial slur and it needs to stop being abused by whyte people and Gadje.
