The Issue

I am writing this petition because Armenia is my country, and its history is a vital part of our shared human story. The Armenian Genocide, which took place from 1915 to 1923, remains insufficiently recognized on a global scale. An estimated 1.5 million Armenians were systematically exterminated in what is considered the first genocide of the 20th century. Recognition of this atrocity is not a matter of political convenience; it is a call for justice and the acknowledgment of historical facts.

For decades, Armenian communities around the world have sought recognition for this genocide, which remains a dark, unresolved chapter in history. Many countries, including Canada, France, and Germany, have officially recognized the genocide. However, key nations such as the United States have taken steps, yet full acknowledgment and commemoration still remain inadequate.

The refusal to recognize the Armenian Genocide perpetuates a cycle of denial and revisionism that not only insults the memory of the victims but also hinders the healing process for future generations. Acknowledgment is the first crucial step towards reconciliation and preventing such atrocities in the future.

The goal of this petition is to urge nations that have not yet done so, especially influential states, to officially recognize the Armenian Genocide. Doing so will honor the victims and set a precedent for global acknowledgment of all genocides.

With enough support, we can encourage governments to enact resolutions, educate the public on the Armenian Genocide, and integrate this crucial part of history into school curricula. This action will pave the way for a more conscious and informed society that values human rights and historical truth above political gain.

Please join me in this pursuit of justice. Sign this petition to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide on a national and international level, demonstrating a commitment to truth and humanity.
