The Issue

I have experienced firsthand the stigmas associated with polyamorous relationships. Our community, which is rich in diversity and contribution, deserves equal treatment and protection within society. Poly individuals and families have every right to exist openly and with dignity, just like any traditional family unit.

Polyamorous individuals face numerous challenges that stem from misconceptions about the nature of our relationships. We are often labeled as immoral or invalid, which is not only hurtful but also unfounded. Our relationships are based on mutual consent, trust, and love, just like any other. It's time for society to recognize and respect our choices.

In healthcare, poly individuals often encounter barriers when making critical decisions for the well-being of their partners and families. We demand equal respect and inclusion in healthcare policies, ensuring we can make decisions without prejudice or unequal treatment. Poly families should not have to compromise their health due to systemic biases.

Housing discrimination remains a significant concern for poly families. Just like any family, we deserve fair housing opportunities without fear of bias or retribution. We urge lawmakers and housing authorities to enforce policies that protect against such discrimination, allowing poly families to find safe and supportive environments to call home.

Moreover, the workplace must become a safe haven, free from bias against poly individuals. It is crucial that workplace protections include safeguards against discrimination based on relationship orientation. Every person, regardless of their relationship status, should feel secure and valued in their professional environment.

Finally, we advocate for the recognition of our rights to define and build our families how we see fit. Legal acknowledgment of poly families ensures that we can enjoy the same rights as other family structures, including benefits, custody rights, and inheritance.

We call on lawmakers, employers, and society at large to reject the stigma attached to polyamory and embrace diversity in all its forms. Sign this petition to stand with poly individuals and affirm that our relationships are valid, deserving, and equal. Your support is vital in bringing about the change we need. Please sign to join us in this fight for equality and recognition.
