Accountability for Wet Noses-Deny the License and Stop the Suffering!

The Issue

Sign the petition to show the Pierce County Auditor's Office the public cares about Wet Noses operating illegally and it cannot be tolerated!

Wet Noses Foster Paws/Wet Noses Dry Paws have been operating at the Gig Harbor location illegally since they opened in 2020.

They never obtained a kennel license for the location. Likely because the location does not and will never meet kennel zoning and safety requirements. This facility was ordered to close on 10/11/2022 for lack of kennel license, but appealed and are being allowed to continue operating until their hearing, scheduled for 12/8/2022 at 1pm, Pierce County Auditor's Annex at 2401 S 35th St, Tacoma. This hearing is open to the public!

This petition will be sent to the auditor's office prior to the hearing to show public support for denying their appeal.

A few issues with the Gig Harbor facility; the building was never intended as a commercial structure, is only 23' from busy Highway 16 (posing a safety risk to dogs escaping their facility), and their property is too small to ever meet the setback requirements protecting neighbors and dogs. They have applied for a variance from these requirements in a separate process with Pierce County Permitting Office, but the Permitting and Auditor's Offices do not communicate on these items. Animal Control has no part in this process.

Allowing this business to continue operating will no doubt result in continuing abuses of the regulatory system and more harm to dogs in their care! Just last week, WNFP threatened to forcibly remove a dog from a loving home and have it immediately killed. How any organization claiming to love dogs could even think to do that is shocking and horrifying.

Both Dry Paws daycare/boarding and Foster Paws non-profit rescue are owned by the same person, McKenzie Moates Wolf. The non-profit Foster Paws has no board oversight (in violation of IRS tax exempt regulations), and rescue dogs are housed at the same daycare/boarding facility in Gig Harbor. There is no separating the two entities.
