The Issue

Thomas J O'connor Animal Control & Adoption Center has been euthanizing dogs they deem aggressive or unadoptable and members of the community, and abroad, have serious concerns with the judgement of those in the role of determining the need and justification for euthanasia.
We are formally requesting an investigation in to this facility. Many have reached out to Helen Caulton-Harris and Mayor Sarno with absolutely no response. Given the severity of this situation and this being a public-funded facility, we implore those with oversight to take action and provide transparency, comply with the oversight you are responsible for and implement much needed change.
Why is this important?
This started with a puppy named Goober, but we know he is not a sole
Case. Unjustified deaths of animals in Thomas J O’Connor’s custody must end.
We are respectfully asking for intervention and oversight in to the Thomas J O’Connor Animal Control and Adoption Center.
—Transparency: as a taxpayer funded, community facility, all statistics should be public information, including but not limited to euthanasia.
—Oversight: realistic, standard operating procedures need to be drafted, implemented and enforced specifically surrounding the euthanasia of all animals in custody of this facility.
—Change: if this facility does not have resources to help the animals in their custody, we implore those with oversight to provide this. Networking is critical, accepting community help is imperative, ignoring resources should not be permitted.
The animals who arrive at Thomas J O’Connor have been failed, that failure should not continue after their arrival!
