I'm writing this petition as someone who, like many of us, expects the highest standard from leaders representing us in Parliament. However, we are often deeply disappointed by poor behavior, partisan bickering, and an apparent disregard for respectful interaction. It is paramount that politicians demonstrate integrity, honesty, objectivity, and uphold democratic values in their conduct.

Recent sniping and sledging, shouting down others and calling out while another is trying to speak is unacceptable regardless of your political leaning.

Our politicians are public servants, and their salary comes from our taxes. We demand an immediate and necessary change, requiring all politicians to adhere to an acceptable behavior standard in Parliament. Their actions and words should dignify their position and reflect the respect they should have for those they represent.

This is not just a system change, but a cultural shift that encourages respect, empathy and a sense of public service. No office should be above basic human decency and respect - and it is time our Parliament reflected that.

With this petition, we voice our aspiration for a political landscape where parliamentarians showcase the best of us, not the worst.
