Accelerate Research and Development for Brain Cancer Cure

The issue

Like many in Mount Gambier SA, Australia, I have watched helplessly as countless people succumb to brain cancer each year, including children, making it a deeply personal issue to myself and others. It's heartbreaking that this cruel disease often leaves its victims and their family with little hope due to limited treatment options.

The World Health Organization reports approximately 256,000 brain and other nervous system cancer cases worldwide in 2020. Brain cancer has the highest cost of all cancers to the community and the lowest survivorship, making the need for more effective treatments an urgent one.

In Australia alone, brain cancer leads to an average annual death toll of 1,200 individuals—a statistic that has not improved significantly over the past 30 years. Despite causing more death among children than any other disease, brain cancer only receives a small proportion of research funding when compared to other cancers.

This must change. We need more resources dedicated to finding effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure for brain cancer. By accelerating research and funding in this area, we can bring hope to the many individuals and families who face this challenging disease.

Please, join our effort and sign this petition to lobby our government and health institutions to increase funding and accelerate research for a cure for brain cancer. Let us strive to make brain cancer a disease of the past.
