Accelarate planning for new 4-storey building for Sto. Cristo National High School NOW!

The Issue

BACKGROUND:

Sto. Cristo National High School, also known as SCNHS, is one of the fastest-growing integrated high schools in the City of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

From its humble beginnings in 2010, it was developed bit by bit, with just one campus with one-storey buildings before, now called Main, until the Annex campus was built to respond to the growing number of students from Barangays Sto. Cristo and Kaypian, with some even coming from as far as Minuyan Proper, Mulawin and Gumaoc Central.

By 2019, a four-storey building for the Senior High School department was inaugurated by Congw. Florida Robes. By then, more than 30 classrooms from both campuses were already completed.

But amidst the fact on classrooms, SCians face a sad reality in today's time. The shortage of classrooms, felt in the whole country, can be also seen in the school.

With a much larger number of students than Grade 10, Grade 8 students are now having their classes in Main, instead of Annex.

Meanwhile on Senior High School, even though the strand sections of Grades 12, namely ABM, HUMSS, ICT, HE and STEM, were merged in order to maximize the usage of classrooms, the late enrollment for Grade 11-HUMSS has been the reason why Grade 12-ABM students conduct their classes from 10:10AM onwards in the school grounds, with 11-HUMSS using the supposed 12-ABM classroom from 9:00AM to 6:40PM.

When it comes to the canteen, students in the three-storey JHS Building in Main are now buying on the stairway, while being careful not to hit their heads into a thick concrete post. It has been the situation ever since school year 2022-2023.

With regards to the library in Annex, it was discontinued, also in order to maximize and for it to be utilized for classes.

With all of these in mind, it is just timely and important for the school administration to act immediately for the planning and the eventual construction of a four-storey building for SCNHS.

For the construction and completion of the proposed building, that was teased during the School's State of the School Address for the school year 2023-2024, will ease the existing problems and issues, being faced by both campuses, and most of all, decongest and make studying comfortable for each SCian.
