ACCD Students Want 1111
The Issue
Following the recent email to ACCD Students "Important Updates on What’s Ahead", many students and faculty are not in support of this decision. The 1111 building has been an integral part for ArtCenter's community and is a space that helped define student experience.
It has become a home for many students and alumni (especially those within the Illustration Department), serving as a primary hub for student events and functions.
While we understand that administration wants to restructure and thinks space is being underutilized, many students have experienced the opposite. During peak periods such as midterms and finals, available spaces can often feel at full capacity or even overcrowded.
We question how classrooms and creative spaces can be moved to other buildings without negatively affecting the student experience.
This petition serves as documentation for the ArtCenter community to express their desire to keep the 1111 building as a central space for student life and collaboration.
