When the weather improves we all like to wear cooler clothes, so why are children and young people still being expected to wear long black trousers to school (and even school jumpers) during the summer term?

Girls can choose to wear skirts or trousers, why can't all genders choose to wear smart shorts to school?  Schools should specify a smart pair of shorts as an option for the summer term.
