The senior class of 2020 has always been particularly one to watch. Born into a world during 9/11, and graduating during a global pandemic. Academy District 20, we are so blessed and grateful to have received part of our childhood educations with you and from you. But please, with all due respect, if the class of 2020 cannot be celebrated the way we deserve, with a traditional graduation ceremony, we are asking you to either reschedule it, or cancel it. After 12 challenging years of schooling, this is an occasion we have looked forward to all of our lives. It simply cannot be celebrated in any other way. Our families need to be there. The faculty, including our favorite teachers who have been there with us every step of the way, NEED to be there. Please, at least give us that respect. Given the circumstances in the world right now, we fully recognize this most likely may not be able to be done, but please, do not look for an alternate way to celebrate us, it would not be right. We must be able to walk that stage somehow, or we don’t at all.
