Abolitionist Rising must be banned from UNCG's campus.
The Issue
Abolitionists Rising is an anti-abortion organization founded in Oklahoma who's end goal is to criminalize all abortion indiscriminately in the United States. This would mean regardless of circumstance any woman seeking an abortion would be criminally charged.
These ideas and attempted legislation are heavily rooted in Christian theology and biblical ideas. Despite the United States First Amendment guaranteeing freedom of religion and separation of church and state, Abolitionists Rising seek to use our government to push their religious agenda.
They have several FAQ's and hyperlinks on their website in an attempt to inform. However, the information given from their website is inaccurate and contradictory while touted as fact. An example being their stance on hormonal birth control. "All forms of hormonal birth control, on the other hand, pose a risk of causing an early abortion." Hormonal birth control does not induce any form of abortion. Hormonal birth control prevents pregnancy by stopping ovulation entirely. If there is no pregnancy there is no chance for an "accidental early abortion."
This organization shows up to colleges all over the U.S. and has appeared at my own college University of North Carolina at Greensboro to protest. The organization while allowed to protest at UNCG, the organization uses signage that is grotesque in presentation or offensive in nature. The point of the protest is to get a reaction from the crowd so they can post edited, misleading, and doctored clips on their Youtube channel. However, when participating in conversation with these individuals they constantly fail to inform the crowd that they are being recorded and posted online.
This organization has shown that they are biased, spreading false information, and potentially breaking the law by failing to inform recording and posting.
Sign this petition to get this organization banned from UNCG's campus and banned from further college campuses.
