Abolish Vehicle Insurance Law. Make it optional and not compulsion.

The Issue

History of Motor Vehicle Insurance

People affected and the problem:

Vehicle owners from the richest to the poorest are financially affected.
The amount paid every year as compulsion by law to the third party Insurance Companies is a huge loss for the vehicle insurance customers.

The solution:

This Vehicle Insurance third party payment law started in 1930s in the United Kingdom. Having a vehicle was perhaps a privilege long time ago. Now it is necessity. Moreover the money spent for car/trucks/motorcycles insurance is not even fully recovered when the drivers have an accident. The cost of repair of vehicles is not fully paid by any insurance. Please abolish it as a LAW and make it OPTIONAL.

Personal experience:

1) 2018: I hit my car on a tree and the front part was badly damaged and the car didn't start/reverse. I called up Insurance at the accident spot, there was no response. The police came and took all details of my driving license, motor tax, NCT & Insurance. He also tried to call the Insurance contact number but no response. The police called the tow truck which sent the car to damaged vehicles depot. Next day I went to the depot and told them to send the car to a particular address of repair shop. I spent €950 for toll truck and repair of car. Later when we sent mail to Insurance, they replied that they pay for scratch and paint discolour only.

2) 2020: The car travelled 500 metres from home and started making noise and would not accelerate. We stopped it and called Insurance but no response. We had the AA Roadwatch mobile app. We asked for rescue and the rescue van came at the site within 20minutes. He did a temporary repair and took €40. That really helped us but Insurance payment didn't help in any way. The brake was later replaced at €250.

Respect:

Making Vehicle Insurance a compulsory Law is taking out blood and sweat of the vehicle drivers.
Please abolish it as a LAW and make it OPTIONAL.
