Abolish TV license and quash convictions for evasion

The Issue

The government has announced that from 2028 the TV license is due (this is not guaranteed) to be axed due to online streaming revolutions and more and more people not paying, it high time we highlight the plight of the people convicted for various reasons for TV license evasion.

It has proved unfair and an extreme injustice, and disproportionately affects women as 75% of convictions are against women, as they are more than likely the ones at home caught without a license.

TV license "inspectors" don't have the powers without a court order to enter your home but use tactics the old East German Stasi or Soviet KGB would be proud of.

This injustice has gone on far too long.

Why have we allowed ourselves to get to this stage?  We have so many more channels than just the old traditional stations, so if the other broadcasting stations cannot get a share of the TV license, in any other industry, this would be classed as extortion.

Also hard pressed families cannot afford this additional burden, whilst executives at the BBC enjoy bumper pay packets and presenters get well over six figure salaries.

Join UK Today Online's campaign to get the "teletax" abolished.

It's happened in New Zealand and a few other countries, so it can work and happen here.
