Abolish the 4-Point Grading Scale and Revert to the 100% Based System in our FCUSD Schools

Abolish the 4-Point Grading Scale and Revert to the 100% Based System in our FCUSD Schools
The Issue
We are students in Folsom, CA who have been struggling with a grading system that seems to be more punitive than helpful. Many of our grades have been dropping since the implementation of this new system. It appears to reward those who don't care about their education as much, while punishing those who strive for excellence.
The current 4-point scale is not an accurate representation of our academic abilities and achievements. It is often confusing and can lead to misinterpretation of our actual performance levels. According to research by Brookhart (2011), percentage-based grading provides a more precise reflection of student achievement than scales.
Moreover, it's important to note that different schools use different scales which makes it difficult for colleges and universities during admission processes. A study by Kostal et al., (2015) showed that admissions officers had difficulty comparing GPAs from different high schools due to variations in grading scales, such as the 4 point scale.
We believe reverting back to the traditional 100% based scale will not only provide a clearer understanding of our academic standing but also create a fairer evaluation method that truly reflects our hard work and dedication towards learning.
Let's bring back fairness into our education system! Sign this petition if you agree we need change now!
