As a citizen who has worked hard to fully pay off my property, I find it unjust that I am still required to pay personal property taxes. This feels like an undue control measure by the government over something that I rightfully own. The current system implies that despite having paid for our properties in full, we are still not the complete owners as we continue to pay taxes on them. This is not only financially burdensome but also infringes upon our rights as property owners.

In the United States, personal property tax contributes significantly to local governments' revenue. However, it's worth noting that five states have already abolished this tax entirely (Delaware, Hawaii, Ohio, Pennsylvania and South Dakota), demonstrating its feasibility (Tax Foundation). It's time for all states to reconsider this outdated practice.

The abolition of personal property taxes would not only relieve financial stress from citizens but also promote true ownership rights. We urge lawmakers across the country to review and revise these laws in favor of their constituents who have worked hard to acquire their properties.
