*PUBLIC MEMORANDUM / SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN*

*To*
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India
Prime Minister’s Office
South Block, Raisina Hill
New Delhi – 110011

*Subject: Citizens’ Petition to abolish pension & post-retirement perks for MPs, MLAs and their personal staff – on lines of reforms adopted by Sri Lanka*

*Respected Pradhan Mantriji,*

We, the undersigned citizens of India, submit this mass petition requesting urgent legislative action to end the system of lifelong pension and perks to elected representatives.

*Why this reform is needed:*
1. *Fiscal burden*: Thousands of crores spent yearly on pensions of former MPs/MLAs, even for those who served one term.
2. *Inequality*: Govt employees under NPS have no assured pension, yet politicians get multiple pensions for each term.
3. *Global precedent*: Sri Lanka abolished MP pensions in 2022 via 21st Amendment during economic crisis to cut wasteful expenditure.
4. *Public service, not employment*: MP/MLA post is a 5-year public service, not a career requiring retirement benefits.

*Our Demands:*
1. Introduce a Bill in Parliament to *abolish pension for all future MPs* and direct States to end MLA/MLC pension.
2. *Withdraw post-retirement perks* like free travel, medical, housing for former MPs/MLAs.
3. *Stop pension/salary to personal staff* of Ministers/Speakers appointed on co-terminus basis.
4. Divert savings to health, education, and social security for unorganized sector workers.

This reform will uphold Article 14 and restore public faith in democracy. We request you to place this Bill in the upcoming session of Parliament.

*Jai Hind.*
