Abolish Overtime Tax and Keep Regular Tax Rate Only to the Standard 40-Hour Work Week

Abolish Overtime Tax and Keep Regular Tax Rate Only to the Standard 40-Hour Work Week
The Issue
We are a group of hardworking individuals who, like many others, put in extra hours beyond our standard 40-hour work week. We do this to earn extra money for our families, for emergencies, or simply to make ends meet. However, the current tax system penalizes us by taxing this overtime pay and bonus pay rather than just our regular earnings. This is not only unfair but also discourages productivity and hard work.
The current tax system seems to forget that it is us - the individual workers - who are working those extra hours, not the government. Yet we find ourselves sharing an undue proportion of these earnings with them through taxes.
According to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), millions of Americans work more than 40 hours per week. The average American works 34.4 hours per week; however, when considering full-time employment only (those working more than 35 hours per week), this number jumps up significantly.
We believe that any overtime pay should be untaxed as it's earned by individual effort beyond what's expected in a normal workweek schedule. Therefore we call on lawmakers and relevant authorities to reconsider how overtime pay is taxed and move towards abolishing tax on overtime pay and bonus pay altogether.
This change will benefit millions of American workers who go above and beyond their regular duties every day – because they deserve every penny they've worked so hard for. And if your local lawmakers don’t agree or support this. Vote them out! This isn’t about republicans or democrats, this is about hard working Americans!
Please sign this petition if you agree that it's time for a fairer taxation system that rewards rather than penalizes hard work!
