The Issue

I recently gave my employer a two-week notice only to have my job become unbearable, forcing me to quit. As a manager in a fast-food restaurant, the demands became unmanageable—after just working a 58 hour week, I was expected to fire an employee and then cover an additional 30 hours of shifts. Physically and mentally unable to do so. I am unable to endure such pressure. Despite my commitment, my employer plans to dock my pay to $7.25 an hour, the minimum wage, exploiting the current labor laws in North Carolina. Because in their hand book they put if you quit or get fired they'll cut your pay to 7.25 an hour on the last paycheck.

In North Carolina, employers have the legal right to reduce an employee's pay as long as they let them know before the next pay.  So them putting this in a handbook makes it legal.  This is hurting the North Carolina family's that already live paycheck to paycheck. What happens when a mother or father need to pay their rent and they cut the pay they already worked for down to 7.25. With the price of everything now days their is no way that someone can make a payment and still suport their children.  We need to let North Carolina repasenitives know this is wrong to let these business owners do this to the North Carolina citizens.

The labor law let's them change you scheduling without notice and if you dont do that scheduling because we all have lives.  They can fire you and then cut our pay to 7.25 an hour.  I am asking for your  signature to let our representatives know we need a change so we can make a living.  We should never have to give a 2 week notice they aren't giving us a 2 week notice when they want to let us go.

By changing this labor law, we can ensure justice and fairness in workplaces across North Carolina. Employers will have to stop with the  hostile work environments and pressured into treating employees with respect and dignity. Employees, in turn, will have the security to voice their concerns or move onto better opportunities without the fear of financial retribution.

We need a fair and just labor policy that protects North Carolina workers from being forced into low-wage labor under intimidating conditions. Sign this petition to demand the abolition of pay docking policies for quitting employees in North Carolina and help create a balanced, respectful work environment for all.
