Abolish Inheritance Tax in the UK

Abolish Inheritance Tax in the UK
The Issue
There has been many requests and petitions about abolishing the Inheritance Tax in the UK, but they failed because of a number of reasons. One of which is the lack of organisation. That is what I'm trying to fix this time. This time, it has to be different. While the Inheritance Tax is currently only paid by around 5% of the population in the UK, but 5% of the UK population as of 2023 is around 3.4 million people, which is certainly a lot more than some 60-70 signatures I saw in some petitions, not to mention that the number of people liable to pay this tax is increasing as the HMRC received an extra 1 billion £ from this tax in the 2022/2023 tax year compared to the 2021/2022 tax year.
I have made a facebook group here to better organise this movement:

You can leave a comment there, about why you think this tax should be abolished, or what people can do to protest this tax, or anything you like.
But if you truly wish to abolish the Inheritance Tax, you have to do much more than just signing a petition or sharing this on Facebook or Twitter. You have to talk to the people around you, your family, your friends, your neighbours to gather support. Talk to your local MP to raise your demands. Organise protests. Anything you can do to raise awareness to this tax, and its impacts on people's lives and the UK economy on a macroscopic scale. This movement must grow or it will be buried just like the previous attempts. There has been requests to abolish the Inheritance Tax as early as 2009. If things crawl at the current pace, this tax will never be abolished.
Who are the most affected by this tax?
You may think you can make the rich pay this tax, but they actually have ways to avoid or greatly reduce this tax. The royals are exempt from this tax. The Duke of Westminster did not pay this tax in full or at all. Anyone rich enough to set up a trust can reduce paying for this tax substantially. In the end, only the middle class that own assets above the threshold, that can't avoid to dodge this tax, have to pay it. And keep in mind that it is very possible for anyone to get into the middle class, but it's unlikely you get into the upper class where you can dodge taxes.
If your parent(s) own a house that is above the threshold, and you don't have the money to pay for 40% of its value, you have to sell the house to pay this tax.
If you are a foreigner looking to work or invest in the UK, any money you bring into the UK becomes subject to this Inheritance Tax. That means you may lose 40% of any money you bring into the UK.
Also, the moment a foreigner becomes domiciled in the UK, your worldwide assets are subject to UK taxes, including this Inheritance Tax. If you have assets valued above the threshold outside the UK, you may end up paying the UK government more than you came to the UK to earn.
Under these conditions, foreign skilled workers or investors are unwilling to take such risks to come to the UK. The only ones that will come are the ones too poor to worry about this tax.
Whether you are in the UK, or outside the UK, this tax may affect you in the future. Everyone in the world should oppose this tax.
Why should this tax be abolished?
While there are many reasons why this tax should be abolished, I'm going to list some that I think are easily missed, but just as argumentative as the others.
- Inheritance Tax has been abolished in many former British colonies, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore. That is no coincidence.
- Most of the world does not have Inheritance Tax. Only 27 out of 195 countries in the world have some form of Inheritance Tax.
- Inheritance Tax discourages people from working hard for a better future for their children, because no one wants to save up money just to pay the government. Thus there is less incentive to work hard, so the overall economy suffers from this.
- Foreign skilled workers and investors are discouraged from coming to the UK, because it would make their previously untaxable assets taxable. This is bad for the UK economy.
- The rich will not pay this tax. They have ways of avoiding it. The only ones paying this are the middle class. Then this tax is a failure.
Take matters into your own hands
Every government in the world wants taxes. The higher the taxes are, the better. If they can tax you on 100% of your income or assets, they will. They will find any excuses to raise taxes. The only way you can have lower taxes is by making your voices heard. The stronger the opposition is, the less taxes they dare to collect. Don't think for a moment that they will drop the taxes just because they know you are unhappy with the taxes. They already know that. The only way they will drop the taxes is because, the costs to them are much higher otherwise.
