I am reaching out to all of you with a heartfelt plea and a personal story that I can hardly bear to tell, yet I must. My children were taken from me by the family court and the Department of Child and Family Services (DCFS). Despite jumping through every hoop, following every protocol, and doing everything I was supposed to do to prove myself a fit parent, my parental rights were terminated. My children were shuffled through the system, forced away from a loving home.

This is my story, but I am not alone. There are countless loving parents who are facing the same battle, stripped of their children by a system that is supposed to protect our rights, not obliterate them. In many instances, good parents are left heartbroken while their children are placed in foster care or adoption, all because of unfounded accusations or systemic failures.

Family court and Child Protective Services (CPS) across the United States are failing our families by not upholding due process and constitutional rights. In an effort to protect children, they are inadvertently causing irreparable harm.

The very institutions that should serve as a safety net for children and families have become a nightmare for many. Statistics consistently show alarming discrepancies in the way cases are handled, with many parents reporting decisions based more on unfounded allegations than on truth and justice. These discrepancies are fueled by inadequate investigations and an over-reliance on insufficient and sometimes inaccurate reports.

We need drastic reform. We propose to dismantle the current family court and CPS systems. Instead, replace them with a more transparent, fair, and accountable system. A system that ensures all investigations are thorough, balanced, and factual. A system that respects the constitutional rights of parents.
