Wednesday afternoon, we learned that ABC had suspended Jimmy Kimmel and put his show on ice indefinitely after his monologue the previous night.

Upon reviewing the clips of the monologue, Kimmel did nothing wrong. This was all a front by Nexstar Media, who is in the process of trying to acquire Tegna Media and had the ABC stations it owns drop Kimmel in order to pressure ABC as a whole to suspend Kimmel in order to get a favorable result in the acquisition talks. This violates the 1st Amendment right to free speech and is a clear example of authoritarianism. Democracy works best when comedians like Kimmel completely eviscerate the decisions made by people in power. Without comedians, without these court jesters...we're basically just state run media.

Jimmy Kimmel has been a staple of our lives since his big break on Win Ben Stein's Money back in 1997 and we can't let that go away just because of this blatant corruption! This sets a dangerous precedent that if you have enough money, you can get away with any sort of crime you want in the United States.

We can not allow a clear 1st Amendment violation by Nexstar Media, ABC and Trump's FCC to stand! We must stand with comedians, stand with democracy and STAND WITH KIMMEL!
