We are in the midst of a global pandemic, fueled by COVID 19, a virus that lacks a vaccine and any evidence based treatment at this time. Texas is a state that has the highest number of uninsured residents, with no Medicaid expansion and has been ranked 49th in the nation for preparedness. Texas is currently number two in cases and believed to be even higher due to faulty testing and underreporting. Governor Greg Abbott has continued to put the state in danger by slowing the response, opening the state and focusing on limiting a woman's right to choose. Governor Abbott is following the lead of a president who is uninformed, reckless, and completely focused on capitalist interests. Abbott continues to follows white supremacist policies, disproportionately harming communities of color and continuing to ignore consequences. Governor Abbott knew the risks of reopening and refused to listen to medical professionals and scientists. He followed the lead of a white supremacist capitalist misogynist president and the death toll for Texans is predicted to soar as a result. Governor Abbott has created a catastrophe that cannot be reversed and Texans everywhere are at risk. We must demand his resignation immediately as well as the resignation of the Lt. Governor Dan Patrick who indicated that the elderly would be willing to sacrifice their lives for the economy. Abbott and Patrick know that COVID-19 disproportionately harms BIPOC and they do not care. 

It's time for an immediate change before thousands more die. 

Governor Abbott also follows racist polices concerning police brutality, refusing to listen to constituents when they demand defunding of the police and now attempting to enforce draconian measures such as felonies to those who attempt to bond protestors out of jail. Governor Abbott is mirroring fascist polices of Trump and is attempting to limit civil rights, penalize BIPOC and continue to allow racist police to continue to murder innocent Texans without consequences. 

Governor Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick have blood on their hands. It's time for their resignations.
