It is our belief that the current American government safeguards, and checks and balances, are being dismantled or are obsolete and don’t work. We want change and are pushing back against a brutal, fascist takeover by rich and powerful ideologues who enrich themselves and hurt everyone else. We believe that Democrats must win back power with fair-minded, common-sense steps that will make our lives and our country better. We also believe that the Democratic Party should avoid pushing cultural, extraneous, fringe, shiny-object, targeted, and wedge issues that drive voters away. Instead we should concentrate on simple, memorable statements backed with specific details that address the growing cost of living and shrinking individual influence. With this in mind, we believe that Democrats should pledge to:

1. Take back our democracy and make it work for everyone

2. Eliminate Presidential immunity and apply the rule of Law to everyone equally          

3. Shore up the separation of powers and demand that Congress serve the public will       

4. Overturn Citizens United and restore Supreme Court integrity           

5. Outlaw gerrymandering and enforce free and fair elections nationwide           

6.  Protect freedom of religion but maintain the separation of church and state

7. Regulate Artificial Intelligence and social media but promote responsible journalism           

8. Promote freedom from fear and aggression, foreign or domestic           

9. Restore an economy that enables everyone to make a decent living for oneself and one's family        

10. Provide affordable retirement and health-care systems not based on corporate profits           

11. Ensure the safety of food, drugs, water, air, consumer finance, transportation, and workplaces
