The Issue

Around the bustling streets of Delhi, stray animals are a common sight, living alongside its citizens and forming an integral part of the community fabric.

However, recent plans to relocate these animals away from the city pose a threat to their wellbeing and survival. —a step that not only violates the Animal Birth Control (ABC) Rules, 2023 and BNS Section 135, but also poses significant ethical, logistical, and financial challenges.

It's understood that concerns for public safety and health have driven this initiative, yet the methodology ought to be humane, safe, and considerate of the animals' rights.

Numerous studies point out the hazards of arbitrary relocation: it can lead to territorial disputes, spread diseases, and disrupt the ecological balance (source: World Animal Protection organization).

We seek the intervention of the Supreme Court. At the very least, alternative solutions and regulations should be explored that prioritize animal welfare and public safety in symbiosis.

It's time to rethink the approach and engage in practices that truly embody compassion and co-existence. This is a call to the Supreme Court to review and halt the relocation of stray animals in Delhi. Please sign this petition showing your support for our cause.
