My parents, Ramona and Miguel, were the definition of "essential." For 25 years, they worked in factories across Los Angeles and Orange County, sewing the "Made in USA" labels that represent this country's pride. They paid their taxes, contributed to their community, and raised us to believe in the American Dream.

But they never got to see that dream fully realized. My mother passed away on February 9, 2015, and my father followed her on March 9, 2019. They spent their final years as they spent their working years: "invisible" to the laws of the country they served. They died in the shadows, never receiving the legal recognition or the dignity they earned through decades of hard labor.

The Solution: The Dignity Act (H.R. 4393)

We cannot let this be the story for millions of other families. I am calling on Congress to pass the Bipartisan Dignity Act of 2025 (H.R. 4393). This legislation is a common-sense, bipartisan path forward that reflects the strength and resilience of our workforce.

As of early 2026, this bill has gained the support of 35 bipartisan cosponsors and over 60 national organizations. It provides a real solution through:

• Earned Legal Status: A strict, earned process for long-term residents with clean records to pass background checks, pay restitution, and work legally.
• Border Security & Accountability: Implementing 100% mandatory E-Verify and restoring operational control of our borders.
• Protecting the Future: Providing a permanent legal status path for Dreamers who have known no other home.
