It should be clear that banning guns or changing the gun culture by which gun owners will freely give up guns, is a multi-generational process, facing both legal and cultural headwinds. While we need to decrease the number of lost loved ones, this regulatory model is problematic.

While the aggressive gun culture has led to the current gun voidance crisis, ammunition design is a root cause to the crisis. Current ammunition is designed to be as lethal as possible as it passes through the victim. As any reloader knows, redesigning ammunition for the general public opens the opportunity to greatly minimize the damage done to the victim while still allowing people to defend themselves if needed.

Ammunition regulations would focus on 3 things:

1. Design bullets to minimize damage as they pass through a victim

2. Mandate bullet materials that are non-lethal, as some law enforcement departments and military already do, and

 3. Limit the powder load to cap muzzle velocity to a non-lethal speed

Our governing bodies, by focusing on gun bans that violate the 2nd Amendment, are missing an opportunity to quickly begin to save lives by improving current ammunition design.
