A New 691 Bus Route for Woodbridge High School

The Issue

If you are a Woodbridge High student, make sure to fill out the consultation form: https://forms.gle/sGmpeYwLHfGQbie16

Once enough data has been gathered, I will publish it on this site and use it to strengthen the case for Woodbridge High.

On the 7th of September 2024, a series of changes were imposed on the bus network serving Walthamstow, Wanstead and Woodford.

The students of Woodbridge High School were heavily affected, as the 549 route was withdrawn, decreasing capacity for the morning school rush hour run, as the extended w14 service which was intended to replace the 549 has a different schedule that doesn’t allow for Woodbridge students to be collected. The W12’s route became overcomplicated, running down countless bottlenecks, causing endless delays.

For the afternoon school rush hour run,  an estimated half of students are unable to board their return journey, causing many significant health and safety issues which are outlined in this presentation.

The proposal of a new double-decker 691 school route would add capacity for just under 100 students to have a service that has an efficient route avoiding traffic, is guaranteed to be punctual, and which will they will not be turned away from.
