A Heartfelt Request to Bring Patel Brothers to State College, PA
A Heartfelt Request to Bring Patel Brothers to State College, PA
The Issue
Dear Patel Brothers Team,
I hope you are doing well.
I am writing with a sincere and heartfelt request on behalf of the Indian community in State College, Pennsylvania. While this may be just another expansion decision for you, for us, it is something that impacts our everyday lives in a very real way.
State College is home to a vibrant and growing Indian community—families, working professionals, and a large population of Penn State students. Yet, despite this strong presence, we do not have a single full-service Indian grocery store in our town. Something as basic as buying everyday essentials—spices, fresh produce, lentils, or regional ingredients—requires us to drive nearly 90–100 miles to places like Mechanicsburg or Harrisburg.
We understand that stores like Apna Bazar and Bombay Bazaar already have a strong and growing presence in Mechanicsburg. While that region is well served, State College and surrounding areas remain completely underserved.
This is why we are reaching out to you.
Opening a Patel Brothers store in State College would not just be a business expansion—it would fill a genuine gap for an entire community. In fact, the opportunity extends beyond just State College. A store here could naturally serve nearby regions like Altoona, Williamsport, and other surrounding towns, where access to Indian groceries is equally limited. Many of us already make long trips today—if a store were closer, it would quickly become the preferred destination for a wide geographic area.
For many of us, these groceries are not just products—they are a connection to home, culture, and comfort. Having to travel hours for something so fundamental often feels isolating, especially for students and families far from home.
To further demonstrate the depth of interest and need, I am currently in the process of gathering community signatures for a formal petition supporting this request.
We truly believe that State College represents both a meaningful community impact and a strong business opportunity for Patel Brothers. The demand is here. The loyalty is here. And the community support will be unwavering.
We sincerely hope you will consider evaluating State College as a potential location. We would be more than happy to share additional insights about the community or assist in any way that might support your decision.
Thank you for taking the time to read our request. It would mean a great deal to all of us to see Patel Brothers become part of our community.
With hope and appreciation,
Angana
