The Issue
Imagine a world where our roots are entwined with nature, where every embrace of a tree fuels the fight against climate change and air pollution. This vision was ignited during a life-changing camping trip in Connecticut back in 2016, alongside my friend Tamarack Verrall.
Since that unforgettable journey, I have dedicated myself to the noble cause of tree planting, realising that trees are not mere bystanders in the story of our planet, but they are our guardians, essential for the survival of indigenous communities, and humanity as a whole.
Today, I invite you to join the movement, to stand alongside women and young females, as we embark on a monumental Tree Hug-a-thon campaign. Our mission is to illuminate the world on the vital role of trees, to combat climate change and air pollution, and to nurture a profound love for the environment.
This campaign isn't just for environmental enthusiasts; it's for every woman and female youth ready to champion change, from afforestation to zero carbon to energy efficiency.
Our demands are not just words but a call to action:
Speak out against reckless tree felling and the unsustainable use of our forests, threats that endanger biodiversity, our climate, and our future.
Protect native trees and forests while planting new trees and establishing new forests.
Call upon authorities to halt illegal tree felling and rigourously enforce the laws, standards, regulations, and policies that protect our natural world.
Champion innovative technologies that offer alternatives to firewood and traditional open-fire cooking, the driving force behind deforestation.
Invest in scalable solutions with far-reaching positive impacts for generations.
Through the simple act of hugging a tree, we send a powerful message—one of hope, love, and determination. Together, we can halt deforestation, breathe new life into our forests, and secure a sustainable future for all.
