Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are the people who work directly with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in residences, day programs, and supported employment. They also help these individuals experience community, therapeutic, and recreational settings. 

This is NOT an entry-level position. This is a professional job that requires extensive training to gain the skills needed to ensure that the people they serve are safe, secure, and lead fulfilling lives. 

DSPs deserve fair pay for their vital and skilled work! 

Help us show Governor Cuomo that he should include $45 million to begin developing a living wage for direct support workers who provide services to people with disabilities.

It's an urgent need and one that will require all of us to work together to be sure that funding gets put in the Executive Budget for 2017-2018 and then gets passed by the legislature and signed by the Governor.

We know that you are supportive of this most important and necessary funding. This living wage will help to recruit and retain employees who might otherwise choose to work in retail or fast food businesses.
