PETITION FOR JUSTICE
Justice for Jadell Vanhorn
Requesting Sentence Reduction Review by the Governor of Ohio
A Mother's Plea
Fifteen years. That's how long I've watched my son, Jadell Vanhorn, sit behind bars for something
he did not do. Fifteen years of prison visits instead of family dinners. Fifteen years of collect calls
instead of hugs. Fifteen years of watching an innocent man lose everything—while the truth sits
buried under lies, betrayal, and a broken system.
His own lawyer lied to him. The people he called friends—the ones who actually committed the
crime—came together and pointed every finger at him. They walked free. Jadell was railroaded. And
the system that was supposed to protect him failed him in every way imaginable.
Jadell had a daughter. She was only 5 years old when they took her father away. Five. She's 21 now.
She's written him off—not because she doesn't love him, but because the pain of his absence has
been too heavy to carry. She's angry he wasn't there. And he's heartbroken that he couldn't be.
He missed her first day of school. Her graduations. Her birthdays. Her heartbreaks. Her growth into a
woman. He missed everything. And she lost her father—not to death, but to injustice.
Jadell Vanhorn is not the man they made him out to be.
He is kind. He is loving. He is innocent. And he has paid for 15 years for a crime he did not commit
while the guilty remain free.
The Facts
• Wrongful Conviction: Jadell Vanhorn was convicted based on false testimony from co-defendants
who placed sole blame on him to protect themselves.
• Ineffective Legal Counsel: His attorney failed to adequately represent him, withholding critical
information and providing misleading guidance.
• No Physical Evidence: There is no physical evidence tying Jadell to the crime.
• Time Served: He has served 15 years—time that can never be returned—separated from his
family, his daughter, and his life.
• Irreparable Family Harm: His daughter was 5 when he was incarcerated. She is now 21 and has
become estranged due to the trauma of his absence. What We Ask
We, the undersigned, call upon the Governor of Ohio to formally review the case of Jadell Vanhorn
and grant a sentence reduction or commutation, allowing him the opportunity to return to his family,
rebuild his relationship with his daughter, and reclaim the life that was unjustly taken from him.
An innocent man has lost 15 years. Please don't let him lose any more.
"Justice delayed is justice denied. Help us make it right."
