Hi, Mount Horeb!

Many of you may have met Griz, my Rottweiler/Poodle mix, while we've been walking down the Main Street strip. I'm Libby,  his side-kick.

Griz and I love being part of the Mount Horeb community, and our walks have made me realize just how many dogs and dog-loving families call this town home.

That's why we're starting a petition asking the Village of Mount Horeb to revisit the possibility of creating a dedicated, fenced-in public dog park right here in our community.
 
A dog park would provide: 
• a safe place for dogs to run, play, and socialize
• more opportunities to enjoy our beautiful outdoors
• a space for neighbors and dog owners to connect
• exercise and enrichment for our four-legged family members
• another community amenity that makes Mount Horeb an even better place to live
 
This isn't a brand new idea!
Since 2015, the idea of a Mount Horeb dog park has been identified by residents. A potential Village-owned site was identified in 2018, and the Village's 2020 Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan documented continued community demand and hoped to develop the site within the next five years.
 
That five-year target didn't materialize as Mount Horeb began undertaking other major park-planning efforts such as Grandma Foster Park and Grundahl Park.
 
In a 2025 Mount Horeb Mail Report, when residents asked about a dog park during the new park planning process, the response was that it was "on the back burner, yet open for discussion."
 
Now we are asking: Can we revisit the idea?
