A Call to Conscience: Award the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize to the Children of Gaza or the ICC

The Issue

In a year when humanity stands at a moral crossroads, we believe the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize must rise above politics, power, and personal prestige. The prize was never meant to crown presidents or politicians—it was meant to honor the defense of peace, justice, and human dignity.

No leader today embodies that merit. The world has watched too many speeches, too many summits, and too little humanity. The cries of the innocent echo louder than any political promise.

In 2024, reports from UNICEF and the United Nations documented that over half of Gaza’s population are children, and that tens of thousands have been killed, orphaned, or displaced amid ongoing conflict. Entire neighborhoods, schools, and hospitals have been reduced to rubble. These children—innocent of politics or power—have become symbols of humanity’s collective failure to protect its most vulnerable. Yet, their survival and resilience under unimaginable conditions remind the world that hope and moral clarity can still rise from tragedy.

At the same time, the International Criminal Court (ICC) continues to pursue justice in some of the world’s most politically sensitive and dangerous arenas. Despite immense pressure and attempts at intimidation, it remains one of the few institutions capable of challenging impunity for war crimes and crimes against humanity. In 2024 and 2025, the ICC’s ongoing investigations into conflicts across regions—from Ukraine to Palestine—represent an unyielding commitment to international law and accountability when global leadership has faltered.

The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize should therefore go either to the Children of Gaza—whose suffering and endurance symbolize the failure and the hope of humanity—or to the International Criminal Court (ICC), the only institution still struggling to hold power accountable and to defend justice without fear or favor.

Awarding the Peace Prize to either would not just recognize a moment—it would define a moral era. It would send a message that will outlive us all and echo through the conscience of history: that peace without justice is no peace at all.

We urge the Nobel Committee to rise above conventional choices and recognise the tireless fight for peace and justice. By honouring the Children of Gaza or the ICC, the world would send a powerful message that true peace includes all of humanity, and justice is a non-negotiable pathway to that peace.

Sign this petition to advocate for a Nobel Peace Prize that truly represents the ideals it was founded upon—a testament to courage, humanity, and the pursuit of justice for all.
