My younger brother, Vivek, walked into a hospital for a minor wrist fracture. A 20-minute surgery left him with irreversible brain damage, and for five months, he has been fighting for his life in a coma. My father spent his entire life serving the MP Government honestly as an SDO. Today, after a lifetime of following the rules, our family is watching the system protect the powerful hospital owners who destroyed my brother's life.

Vivek is 36 years old and a brilliant M.Tech Environmental Engineer. Five months ago, the hospital initially put a cast on his fractured hand. But the next day, the treating doctors heavily pressured us into an elective surgery, assuring us the cost was "manageable." We trusted them.

Inside the Operation Theatre at Sardar Patel Multispeciality Hospital in Balaghat, they showed absolute haste. They started the procedure before my brother was even fully unconscious. The anesthesia failed, his brain was starved of oxygen, and he went into a coma right there on the table.

But what breaks me most is what happened outside those doors. While this nightmare was unfolding and medical staff were panicking inside, the doctors stood outside and lied to our faces, telling us the surgery hadn't even started yet.

The next day was sheer hell. They told us they were referring him to a better-equipped hospital, but they made us wait five agonizing hours with my brother on a ventilator. Why? Because they were busy reprinting the referral letters to erase the primary doctor's name and save him from jail along with forging other crucial documents. My wife, who is an MD doctor herself, caught the staff red-handed trying to swap the papers. She fought them right there in the hospital and forced the doctor to sign the original document.

Then, because the hospital's elevator was broken, we literally had to watch them drag my comatose brother down the stairs. It is an indignity I will never forget.

When the government health department finally did an inquiry, they confirmed our worst fears: the hospital lacked the basic, mandatory life-support equipment and qualified emergency doctors required to save him.

We got an FIR registered. I want to be fair here—the local administration and police were actually supportive at first and helped us secure the original notes and CCTV footage. But the hospital owners are insanely influential. Because of their immense local reach, the investigation has completely stalled. No arrests. No movement. Just silence.

Instead of showing an ounce of remorse, the hospital director recently went to a national newspaper and called my brother a "drug addict" to explain away their anesthesia failure. No blood tests, no proof. Just publicly smearing a man on life support who cannot wake up to defend himself.

I am an IIT Bombay grad and an entrepreneur. I always thought if you do everything right, the system protects you. But we are just a middle-class family fighting an incredibly powerful hospital management that is using every connection to escape accountability. My father is completely broken, and my elderly mother hasn't stopped crying for five months. We sit by Vivek's bed every day, praying for a miracle.

3. The arrest of the hospital management and the doctors responsible for this severe medical negligence, for running an uncertified facility, and for tampering with my brother's official medical records.
