Last month, City Council Members voted to turn down up to $3,000,000 in proposed funding to renovate and remodel the 9th and Van Brunt Athletic Fields. We are asking for Councilwoman Melissa Robinson of the 3rd District, and all City Council members to reconsider this decision. We ask that an investment is made into the 9th and Van Brunt Athletic Fields. 

9th and Van Brunt is one of the most utilized parks in Kansas City. On any given day, hundreds of people utilize the space. Without necessary improvements, this park will continue to deteriorate, making it unsafe for our children and community. We need the help of our city leaders. 

The up to $3,000,000 project would help fund new turf for the existing field, a second turf field, and futsal courts. Currently, public access to a facility of this nature does not exist in our city. We want to change this to provide equitable and fair access to everyone. 

9th and Van Brunt is a special place in the community. People of all ages are able to come together in a productive manner, staying active and engaged in soccer and socialization. With approximately 40 nations represented in Northeast Kansas City, 9th and Van Brunt is home to a unique and special community. 

We ask that our city leaders fund an opportunity that provides an effective outlet for our community. This opportunity would help current and future generations.
