The Issue

Dear 50th Street Neighbors,

I am reaching out to ask for your support in petitioning for a 2-year protective order against Brian Auer. For the past several summers, he has been living out of his navy blue Cadillac along the 46th–50th Street beach access, and his behavior has become increasingly concerning.

Over this time, he has:

  1. Regularly hurled insults and frightened neighbors, including my children
  2. Been arrested multiple times, most recently this past Sunday at noon for Drunk in Public and Resisting Arrest at the 50th Street access
  3. Slept in his car at the beach access

Currently, a temporary protective order is in place until September 17th, at which time I will return to court to request an extension for 2 years.

If you would be willing to sign the petition in support—or if you’ve had negative encounters with him and would be open to sharing your experience—it would greatly help strengthen the case for our community’s safety.

Thank you for considering this request and for helping protect our neighborhood. Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you’d like to participate.

With appreciation,

Jeff and Lisa Hoberg, 103 50th Street
