Bring Halo 5: Guardians to PC

The Issue

Halo 5: Guardians Full PC Release (Steam, Microsoft Store and Xbox GamePass Ultimate)

With the recent announcement of 343 Industries to continue the story of Halo 5: Guardians in Halo Infinite, it has become even more obvious, that Halo 5: Guardians needs to find its way to PC. We are a group of people, who demand exactly that for multiple reasons, with this one being among them.

With the recent announcement that Halo Infinite will be delayed, the timeframe for a potential Halo 5: Guardians PC release has been opened. A full Halo 5: Guardians PC release would fill the gap between the release of Halo 4 on MCC PC and the release of Halo Infinite and has, if done correctly, the potential to bring the perfect Halo experience to PC.

If you want a Halo 5: Guardians PC release, then support our petition. The following text will have details on why we want a full Halo 5: Guardians PC release as well as information for Microsoft and 343 Industries.

If you want to support our petition furthermore, use the following Hashtag on Social Media: #HuntH5PC

Campaign

PC players get to play every Halo campaign with the continuous release of each Halo game coming to MCC on PC. We personally have many members in our group, who have been avoiding any kind of spoilers regarding the Halo Campaigns and it would be really awesome, if these people got to play all Halo Campaigns, including Halo 5: Guardians. The experience of Halo is only truly perfect with the complete package. It would be really sad to just need to watch the entire Halo 5: Guardians campaign instead of being able to play it. Right now, the status that every Halo fan playing on PC has, is exactly what we just described. It would not be the complete experience. You can have any opinion you want to regarding the Halo 5: Guardians Campaign, but we think, that all Halo players on PC should be able to form their own opinion on it by playing it on PC and thus being able to experience the continuous story. Having the truly complete package is something, that we as a part of the Halo community and as a part of the PC community, really want.

Arena

Right now, the only opportunity to really enjoy Arena is the XBOX version. While the minority of our group actually got to play Arena (either via Xbox or via the Halo 5: Forge version on PC that is barely working or in some cases, not even starting, even though these people clearly met the PC requirements), those who did, really liked it. The gameplay feels smooth, fast paced and skill based. The maps feel dynamic and the movement is something we believe to be really interesting for a PC title. The gunplay just feels to be on point and the sound design is awesome. All the games aspects are on par with FPS-games coming out today (reminder: Halo 5: Guardians is almost 5 years old! And it still holds up so well!).

Arena has a lot of E-Sports potential on PC (which it has already shown on XBOX). It feels like this aspect of the game has been built with E-Sports in mind and we think that could translate nicely into the PC scene.

Breakout is also an awesome mode that would definitely be something, that our group plays really often. It feels great for those of us who play(ed) it and created real excitement for everyone else.

Forge

Forge is the reason that the current “PC version” even exists. It has the most possibilities of any main line Halo title and it would be a perfect fit in a full game release, especially on Steam, which has the environment for such an awesome sandbox mode. This mode itself could even be a strong “sandbox game” and have a player base, that “builds” around that. Full optimization for the controls and a perfect support for Microsoft Store and Steam could elevate this mode to be the best Forge Halo fans have ever enjoyed.

Warzone

We truly believe that this mode has the potential to fill a niche, that no other mode in any game can currently fill on PC. There is currently no successful title on PC, that could even come close to the gameplay, that Warzone would be able to provide: 12vs12 multiplayer PVP and PVE matches with this level of movement, abilities and vehicles. We personally really like the gameplay dynamic of this mode, while some of us are not even able to play it, they already really enjoy watching it. We all are thrilled to (hopefully) play this on PC, regardless if we already got to play it on XBOX or not and would be so hyped, if that became reality. Special mentioning goes out to Warzone Firefight, which combines two awesome modes of the Halo franchise to another level of enjoyment. Warzone is, just as Arena, still popular on XBOX for a reason. We think that this popularity will translate perfectly into a full PC release.

Armor Customization

No other Halo title even comes close to the amount and the variety of armor customization of Halo 5: Guardians. And we love the plethora of possibilities this gives the players. We appreciate all the work that went into the creation of these customization options and would really like to collect and use them on PC.

“Easy” work

As two out of the four pillars of Halo 5: Guardians (Campaign, Arena, Warzone, Forge) have already found their way on the PC, we believe, that bringing the entire game to PC would not be too difficult (even though it would probably need to be “ported” from the ground up, looking at the “optimization level” of the current “PC version”). The developers at 343 Industries (awesome job on MCC btw.) and all other developers that would assist would not have that difficult of a task (although there is a necessity for optimization and Steam support, of course, but that is of course also true for MCC PC). We assume that out of all main line Halo games, Halo 5: Guardians would probably be the easiest one to bring to PC. We are sure, that the people of Splash Damage and Ruffian Games would be on board with one more Halo PC release. With Halo 3: ODST and Halo 4 around the corner to release on PC, there is a timeframe between the release of Halo 4 on PC and the release of Halo Infinite, although we personally would also be fine if Halo 5: Guardians was announced to be released, after the release of Halo Infinite has occurred (that would just mean for some of us and probably others, to not play the campaign of Halo Infinite until Halo 5: Guardians gets released on PC).

Would-be-nice (but not mandatory for a PC release) list

Crossplay is already something planned for MCC and would, of course, be awesome for Halo 5: Guardians. It could help to keep the player base large, especially as we expect that Halo 5: Guardians will be playable on XBOX Series X.

Custom Game Browser would be a neat addition.

Additional stuff that we just wanted to include

Special mention goes to the soundtrack, which is awesome. Kazuma Jinnouchi truly did a perfect job capturing the Halo atmosphere and created so many memorable titles, which fit perfectly into the Halo series.

There have been many instances of REQ Pack purchase events, in which the money has been donated. We wanted to thank you for doing that, 343 Industries.

Giving Halo 5: Guardians a full PC release would allow PC players to participate in these events and help these great causes. In Halo as in helping others, nothing feels better than being a hero in more than one way. The PC community would definitely contribute to these causes in a generous way.

Another special mention goes out to the presentation of Halo 5: Guardians. The intro and outro sequences of all multiplayer modes add so much to the immersion of the matches and consequently- the game.

Give features to the XBOX version of the game (just as features get released in MCC for both XBOX and PC).

There is currently a rumor, that people, who played Halo 5: Guardians receive some sort of “Thank you!” for Halo Infinite. Without a Halo 5: Guardians PC release, whatever that is, would be unobtainable for PC players. :( How sad would that be? ):

In fact, talking to many people in the Halo community and the PC community in general showed, that many people believe, that every main line Halo title will get a full PC release- and are really disappointed when we or other community members tell/told them, that there is no announcement for a full PC release of Halo 5: Guardians (many probably still do not know).

We feel like Halo 5: Guardians deserves more than just the half-finished, barely (if at all) working Halo 5 Forge version only available in the Microsoft Store. It would be so sad to just leave this awesome title in this kind of state. That is not the fate that a main line Halo title deserves and Halo 5: Guardians as a complete package has so much potential on PC.

This games PC release would also be a fitting end for the “era of the older engines”, while Halo Infinite would start the “era of the Slipspace Engine”.

We, as a group, surely cannot be the only ones wanting a full PC release for every Halo title existing. Support this petition, if you want a full PC release for Halo 5: Guardians on PC.

Side note: If this petition succeeds and if Halo 5: Guardians gets released in 2020 on PC, then every main line Halo title has been brought to PC (Steam, Microsoft Store and Xbox GamePass Ultimate) in the span of approximately one year. How awesome would that be? :D

We want to take this opportunity to say “Thank you!” to Microsoft, 343 Industries, Splash Damage, Ruffian Games and Splash Damage. You people have done/are doing an awesome job all around, especially in the current circumstances. Do not let the critics of MCC tell you otherwise.

To add, there are many other people wanting and asking for the same thing we ask for. To show that, the petition photo is a collage of a few examples taken from the most recent posts of the official Halo Twitter account (for legal reasons all names and profile pictures are censored):
