Relocate 3 Bears General Stores Abused Bears
Why this petition matters

The bears that 3 Bears General Store in Pigeon Forge keep in captivity are abused. They are kept in a small enclosure with little freedom. Black bears in the wild are animals that must have stimulation from play and being able to hunt, whereas in the 3 Bears enclosure they are provided with nothing but barren concrete walls and made to beg tourists for food. The pool provided for them is too small for one grown bear, much less 4 or as the case seems to be 3, considering one of the bears, Mandy, sadly died under their “care” last year. Because of the small space, the bears constantly fight with each other, while in the wild, they would usually stay away from each other’s territory. Three Bears has failed to provide adequate veterinary care, and sanitary water. The bears often suffer from arthritis and foot injuries due to the concrete. They are not able to hibernate properly due to 3 Bears keeping the feeding attraction open year round, which can lead to further physical and psychological damage. Animals kept in small enclosures often suffer from a disorder called “zoochosis.” This mental disorder can cause animals to physically harm themselves and others. Symptoms, most of which have been seen in these particular bears, can include pacing, running into walls, biting their tongue, head bobbing, swaying, neck twisting, rocking, over grooming, etc. I’m currently working with a couple different organizations to get the bears relocated to a sanctuary, since they cannot be returned to the wild considering how long they’ve been kept in captivity. I implore you to help me and these creatures by both spreading the word and not supporting this business.
