Dear Neighbour,

My name is Katrina I am an owner of a unit at 233 Beecroft rd. Just like you I received an email from our Manager Roopali Gulati on October 2nd, informing in the attachment, that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) was scheduled for November 11th at 12 PM with registration starting at 11.30 AM.

Since then I have been pleading to get the date or at least the time moved so that we could have a meeting just like we had been having over many years in the after-work hours.

I have been advocating to allow for the real and democratic representation of the owners of 233 Beecroft rd., such as:

- People who are employed in the private sector and who don’t get to have a day off to be able to join the meeting regarding their mortgaged private property       

 - People who are off work or take a day off to pay their tribute to their veteran family members or in general to all Canadian soldiers who fought, so that we have rights to private property and freedom of speech and assembly.

All my pleas resulted in the Board being awol and instead involving a third-party lawyer to respond directly to me. The lawyer wrote to me that the Board and the Management could not book another date and time through Get Quorum.

Get Quorum is a private service provider and Board and the Manager are not obliged to use it exclusively.

The Ontario law, as it currently stands in the time of the pandemic, allows for electronic or teleconference annual general meetings to be held ANY TIME before November 21st, 2020.

 There are plenty of such service providers for phone-in or internet and video-chat meetings  such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google and many-many more that allow to set any date and time.

But the board and their lawyer, hired on OUR dime and out of the maintenance WE PAID, which keeps increasing way above the annual inflation rate, continue denying that there are other options available. They keep insisting on holding the meeting on the 11th of November at 12 PM!

As a small business owner and as a person who cherishes the freedoms our troops have fought for, I am asking you, my fellow residents and unit owners at 233 Beecroft rd, to support the petition to move the date or at least the time slot, to allow us A PROPER DEMOCRATIC REPRESENTATION.

The manager and the board have been ignoring the issues of the discrimination for far too long!

It’s time to stand up! 

It’s time for justice! 

And it’s time for you to be able to VOICE YOUR OPINION without having to choose between work or paying tribute to the Canadian Heroes.

Please sign the petition to ask to change the time for the AGM to be held in an evening after 6 PM before November 21st  to allow more owners to participate in-person.
