2026 May Budget funding for Rockbank: No Funding = No Support

2026 May Budget funding for Rockbank: No Funding = No Support
The Issue
Rockbank PSP was approved in 2016, and today more than 90% of the area is home to thousands of hardworking families with young kids. Yet, for several years, the lack of basic infrastructure has forced every one of us to travel to other suburbs just to access essential services.
Every year, after state and council budgets, we voice our frustrations—only to see the exact same outcome repeated. This time, however, we should send a clear message: we will reconsider our support for Labor in the upcoming election if our community is ignored once again in the next budget (due in May)
We’ve paid our share of developer contributions and continue to pay FULL state and council taxes, but none of the infrastructure promised in the PSP has been delivered. Since the last election, Rockbank has received negligible or zero dollars in state and council budgets for essential amenities. Year after year, we voice our frustrations—only to see the same outcome.
Requests to the State Government
- Primary School (P–9)
- Secondary School for Rockbank and Mt Atkinson
- Traffic lights on Leakes Road
- Rockbank Station car park extension
- Mt Atkinson Train Station to reduce the burden on Rockbank Station
- Vacant commercial land tax to discourage land banking in growth corridors
Requests to Council
- Expedite delivery of Sports precinct
- Community centre
- Vacant commercial rates notice to discourage land banking in growth corridors
With all due respect, Jacinta Allan, Luba Grigorovitch and Philip Zada, we have heard enough acknowledgements, comforting words and reassurances. This time we request you to provide real commitments for the above items in the upcoming budget if you genuinely care about the Rockbank community and our support to Labor in the upcoming state election.
This time, we are not ready to accept election time promises from a ruling party and wait for another four years for basic amenities.
By signing this petition, I pledge to reconsider my support for Labor in the upcoming state election if our community is ignored once again in the upcoming state budget (due in May).
