£17.50!? MAKE THE A4 AFFORDABLE - STOP SCAMMING USERS OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The issue

The A4 Air Decker is the only  public transport route between Bath and Bristol Airport — yet it costs £17.50 for frankly a pretty gross and dirty bus. That’s almost two hours of minimum-wage work for a non-direct bus route, that takes over an hour to go what would be a 20 minute car ride.

This fare is unjustifiable and leaves people with no affordable alternative, especially students, airport workers, and residents without cars. Public transport should be accessible to EVERYONE, it is NOT a luxury!

For £17.50 you could:

cross the Severn into a different country

Reach the capitol of England, in the same amount of time, on a nice clean, comfortable train

Buy 8 litres of petrol, which is enough to drive there and back, twice!

We call on:

The West of England Combined Authority (WECA) to review the pricing structure and integrate the route into the regional fare cap;
The Bath Bus Company to offer fairer, distance-based, or off-peak pricing;
And both organisations to ensure sustainable and inclusive transport between Bath and Bristol Airport.

A single connection like this should not cost more than travelling across half the country by train!
