The Issue

Zoe was only 15 years old when she died at Dolphin Life in Key Largo, Florida — less than halfway through the lifespan she deserved. Dolphins like Zoe can live at least 40 years in the wild, swimming up to 60 miles a day with their families, diving deep, and choosing their own lives. Zoe never got that chance.

Instead, she spent her life being used for "swim with dolphins" encounters — forced into stressful, unnatural interactions with the public, day after day. She died from a gastrointestinal infection and pancreatitis, conditions that are common in captive dolphins because of chronic stress and poor diet. She was 15. She should have had decades left.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture cited Dolphin Life in 2023 after a guest was bitten during one of these encounters. The facility has a record of putting both animals and people at risk — and yet the surviving dolphins there are still being used for direct-contact experiences today.

We can't give Zoe her life back. But we can fight for the dolphins who are still there.

PETA has already called on Dolphin Life's founder and director to end all swim-with-dolphin encounters immediately and commit to transferring the remaining dolphins to accredited seaside sanctuaries — places where they would finally have the space, autonomy, and freedom they've been denied. Reputable animal care facilities, like those accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, never allow visitors to touch or ride animals. Dolphin Life should be no different.

Please sign this petition urging Dolphin Life to stop these encounters now and send its dolphins to sanctuary before another life is cut short.
