I have been a teacher for 13 years, 12 with the Newburgh Enlarged City School District. I received my tenure in special education in 2013. In 2015 I requested a transfer and was told the only position available was Social Studies at South Middle School. Although I am certified in social studies as well I expressed concerns since I would have to start tenure over again (although I NEVER resigned from special education and still have rights to it Human Resources said there are not any positions available in special education social studies). I was suppose to receive my tenure in 2019 in social studies but continued to be put on probation due to a personal vendetta from my superior. I received a letter on May 6 from Dr. Roberto Padilla stating the School Board was going to vote on June 8 to terminate me based off the letter that follows. I have countless emails (currently locked out of my school email but luckily have everything printed)sent to my principal Mr. Scott Prokosch, assistant principal Ms. Edith Cacho, union president Mrs. Stacy Moran, Social Studies director Ms. Amanda Greene, and NYSUT legal rep Ms. Angela Pace since March (and even from last school year) stating that the program they had me on was NOT BEING FOLLOWED as it was presented and I was not given the proper support they claimed I needed. The School Board is being made to think I am a brand new teacher that doesn’t know how to teach. As many can and have (thank you) attested I love my career and my students, that I am not a bad teacher but because CERTAIN NAMES HOLD more POWER in this district than others POLITICS trump teaching ability. If I was not good in my career I would have graciously bowed out a long time ago! What is happening is WRONG! I am asking for your support to sign and help me to get ALL FACTS to the School Board members so they can truly make an informed decision before casting a vote on June 8. THANK YOU!❤️
