The Issue
Cordarius Lawrence was sentenced to 100 years after he was wrongfully convicted of first degree murder. We request justice for the innocent. Though Mr. Lawrence sympathizes with the victims family, we want the world to understand that Mr. Lawrence is also a victim. For the past 10 years he has been incarcerated and away from his daughters and loved ones for a crime he didn't commit; in which we tend to prove.
Justice For The Innocent
On February 6, 2014 Corey Williams was fatally shot on the Southside of Chicago. 16 months after his death, three men (including Cordarius Lawrence) were arrested and charged with the murder of Mr. Williams.
The Trial: Mr. Lawrence trial began June 10, 2019. Mr. Lawrence was convicted on the state's knowingly use of false testimonies of 3 witnesses who swore under oath that their testimonies were false and coerced by the leading detective in the instant case. Chicago Police are and have been under scrutiny for coercing witnesses to falsely accuse suspects. (see chicago tribune). Mr. Lawrence stands falsely accused and seeks justice. Trial evidence was so highly prejudicial and contradicted. We have no idea as to how Mr. Lawrence sits in prison with a 100 year sentence. The state's star witness gave a description to the 911 dispatcher of the alleged suspect that it was "too dark" for her to see anything. Furthermore, other evidence contradicts the state's theory of what transpired on the night in question. The medical examiner testified that the victim suffered 2 gunshot wounds to the front and exited out the back. This contradicts the states whole theory, as well as the 911 call, along with witnesses who stated that Mr. Lawrence chased behind the victim firing his weapon which caused the death of Mr. Williams. At no time did any witnesses state that Mr. Lawrence was in front of the victim. So that makes this theory impossible. There was no physical evidence linking Mr. Lawrence to the death of Mr. Williams except for the false statements witnesses presented to the grand jury. They later testified that these statements were false and coerced. This is not justice at all! A prosecutor's job is not to merely convict, its duty is to make sure justice gets served. Most importantly, that's all we are asking for Justice For The Innocent.
