Restore English GCSE speaking marks

The Issue

In August 2013 it was announced that the marks for English speaking and listening would be removed from AQA English and English Language GCSEs, despite the fact that thousands of students had already taken parts of these spoken exams.

It is outrageous that the time and effort that went into preparing these exams will be  unrewarded and wasted. Even though the speaking part of the exam has been discontinued, it is not right to remove marks from students mid-GCSE.

As a student myself I acknowledge that the system is difficult to regulate and that changes have to be made. However, I also know that rewarding those who have worked hard on producing a meaningful presentation with a meaningless "add-on" speaking grade will do nothing to ameliorate the situation.

Please sign this petition to show Ofqual that they should respect the efforts of the students who worked hard to achieve their marks. We've taken the exams, now all we ask for is our grade.
