Roxana Maracineanu is a Romanian-born French former swimmer who has also made a significant contribution to the political sphere in France. Born on May 7, 1975, she is best known for winning the world title in the 200m backstroke at the 1998 World Championships, making her France's first female world champion swimmer. She also claimed silver at the Sydney 2000 Olympics in the same event.
