Michael Keith Simpson is an American politician and dentist serving as the U.S. Representative for Idaho's 2nd congressional district since 1999. Born on September 8, 1950, in Burley, Idaho, Simpson is a member of the Republican Party. He began his political career in 1984 as a member of the Idaho House of Representatives, where he served until 1998, including a stint as Speaker from 1992 to 1998. Simpson succeeded Mike Crapo in the U.S. House after winning the 1998 elections. His district covers a large portion of eastern Idaho, including key cities like Idaho Falls and Pocatello. Simpson holds a Doctorate in Dental Medicine from Washington University and studied at Utah State University. Before his congressional career, he worked at the Simpson Family Dental Practice.
